Writing & Improving In-app Messaging for a Financial Technology Company

I completed this project as a writing assessment for the PayPal interview process and does not reflect content officially published by PayPal Holdings, Inc.

Exercise One:

The following is an imaginary scenario in which I was tasked with writing in-app copy to reflect regional laws that require identity information collection prior to sending large sums of money. Using Figma, I developed the following screens:

The in-app messaging prompts users to provide further identification information (left) before sending $2,100 to another user. I maintained a casual and friendly voice to encourage a positive connection between the user and this block in capabilities. The first prompt (left) reads:

Let’s double check some details!

We noticed you’re trying to send [email] a payment of over $2,000. Help us transfer this money safely by confirming some personal details before sending this payment.

Once the user inputs their identification information, the next prompt (right) reads:

You made that look easy!

Your payment can now be submitted.

Exercise Two:

Write short yet engaging in-app messaging to welcome new users to the platform. Using Figma, I designed the following screen:

A pop-up message would appear upon logging into PayPal with a new account. The in-app messaging reads:

Hi Monique! Welcome to PayPal.

Discover what’s possible having our all-in-one payment app right in your pocket. Learn about all the app has to offer in our quick video tour.
